25 September 2012 - Chris Brown, singer and former boyfriend to star Rihanna, will have his probation reassessed after testing positive for marijuana in June of this year. After the positive result, he produced a medical prescription card from California, where use of the plant is legal for medicinal purposes. Brown was performing six months community service in Virginia, alongside his five year probation for committing assault to the "Umbrella" star in 2009. A court will decide whether or not the recent infraction qualifies as a violation, and may well increase his probation time as a result. The court will also focus on whether or not he broke travel restrictions by flying to France.

Los Angeles Superior Court judge Patricia Schnegg warned Brown that he sets an example, especially for many of his young fans. She said:

 

"You are not an ordinary person who can sit in your living room and do whatever you want to do. More importantly, a lot of people look up to you, a lot of kids. What you do and say impacts a lot of people".

Schnegg also said mandatory drug testing was not a condition of his probation, but she scheduled a hearing on November 1 to decide whether or not the positive result counts as a violation.
