3 September 2012 - 63-year old soul singer Stevie Wonder revealed this week that he hasn't gone down the road frequented by many entertainment megastars, and has spent his 40 year career in the limelight with his feet firmly on the rails. When speaking about his avoidance of drug culture, he told the Guardian Newspaper:
"I'm not better than the next person. But I've never had the desire to do drugs. When I was 21 I smoked marijuana and I didn't like the way it made me feel".
In 1971, when wonder was 21, he stood alongside John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Allen Ginsberg, Phil Ochs and many others, at the John Sinclair, Freeom Rally: a protest concert organized in order to free Sinclair, a counter culture icon who was sentenced to 10 years for giving two joints to an undercover police officer.
If this is the group of smokers that gave him his first tokes of marijuana, it's not so surprising he was slightly blown away!
