Chris Simms To Court For Driving Under Marijuana Influence12 Jan 2011 - Chris Simms is scheduled to appear in court in New York next week in his ongoing driving while impaired by drugs case.

A judge ruled Tuesday that admissions police say Simms made about smoking cannabis can be used in the case. The Tenesse Titans player says he did not admit to smoking marijuana despite police claiming he did. But the judge ruled on Tuesday not only that Simms' comments -- that he said he smoked marijuana before driving -- were obtained legally, but that police were justified in stopping and arresting him.

Police said Simms was stopped for making an erratic turn near a police checkpoint around 1 a.m., last July 1 with his pregnant wife and two other people in the car.

An officer who approached the car later testified that he was "was confronted with a marijuana smell so strong he got a headache and his tongue went numb, and he found Simms in a state 'like a zombie.'''

"I can't get into it, but what they have me quoted as saying is something I definitely didn't say," Simms told Wyatt last July.

Simms is the son of former New York Giants and current CBS analysts Phil Simms. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Simms wasn't tested for drugs, and an alcohol test came back negative, according to reports.
