2. Snoop Dogg Wants To Convince Obama Of Legalizing Marijuana
(Friends (S)/Snoop Dogg)

snoop-dogg11 Jan 2011 - As always, Snoop Dogg has an innovative approach to getting things done. Lots of celebrities and ofcourse common folk want to meet the president. People often ask for silly little stuff, like a signature or a photo or they try to steal something small and insignificant from a White House bathroom? Bot not D-O double G. Snoop Dogg said to Hot 99.5's Toby Knapp that he would convince President Obama to change the drug laws by first getting him nice and relaxed. He intends doing this by changing the aroma of the room.

Snoop Dogg, who's real name is Calvin Broadus, has been a longtime advocate for the legalization of marijuana and a frequent user of it. 'They legalized alcohol, they legalized tobacco. What is it gonna hurt to legalize this medicinal, medical marijuana that’s used for purposes of cataracts?" It is well known that Obama is opposed to the legalization of marijuana.

This saturday Snoop Dogg was arrested for possession of a small amount of weed on his tour bus. He was stopped at a Texas checkpoint when border agents thought they smelled marijuana. Snoop admitted to the pot and now faces a court date in January. It’s not his first arrest—he’s been busted several times over the last 10 years. Snoop Dogg has a card for medical marijuana for California.

26 Nov 2011 - On December 1st The Discovery Channel will premier their latest show 'Weed Wars'. The show will focus on the world of Medical Marijuana and it’s only right they get the Doggfather, a long-time marijuana advocate, to compose the theme song. "I got to have it in my life because it’s the only thing I need, I need it in my life," Snoop raps on the track. "It’s the medicine from the medicine man," he continues. "These are the brothers who be fighting the weed wars."

Weed Wars follows Oakland’s Harborside Health Center, the nation’s largest medicinal cannabis dispensary serving over 94,000 patients. The series introduces the Harborside staff as well as the growers and "patient farmers" whose job it is to provide the "medicine" – the buds – that will be eventually purchased and used by thousands of clients. The shows delves into the ongoing legal debate regarding cannabis and follows the journey of the plant from germination to harvesting and dispensation.

"Weed Wars fearlessly pulls back the curtain on a once illegal and still controversial world," said Nancy Daniels, executive vice president of production and development for Discovery Channel. "From the inner workings of the business to Steve’s distinctive leadership style, Weed Wars is a fascinating glimpse into this highly unique setting. Like 'Gold Rush' or 'Deadliest Catch,' these are guys pursuing their own version of the American Dream."

The unscripted series premieres on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 10 p.m. on Discovery.
