1. Obama And The Choom Gang
(Friends (O)/Barack Obama)

Barack Obama on Friends of Cannabis31 May 2012 - According to the new biography, "Barack Obama: The Story", the U.S. president had a much more enthusiastic approach to smoking marijuana in his youth than previously thought.

As a secondary school pupil in Honolulu, Hawaii, in the late 1970s, Obama is said to have been a member of the "Choom Gang". Choom is a hawaiian world for pot. This was a group of boys who played basketball and smoked weed. "Barry Obama was known for starting a few pot-smoking trends," according to David Maraniss, a Pulitzer Prize-winning author. "The first was called 'TA,' short for 'total absorption'."

(Friends (O)/Sinéad O\'Connor)

Sinead O'Connor25 February 2012 - The 'Wolf Is Getting Married' singer - who has previously revealed a love of weed - admits her children, Jake, 24, Roisine, 15, Shane, seven and Yeshua, five, do not know she enjoys smoking dope because she does so in secret.

She said: "Oh the kids don't know I smoke dope! I just sneak down the garden. But kids now, they're very anti-drink and drugs and cigarettes."

However she admits she has a stricter view of her children smoking cannabis than she has on herself, because she is worried she would "lose them down a tunnel".

She told The Word magazine: "With the older one and his mates, yeah, they were smoking dope but they were 18, 19. And I was more worried they'd be out getting arrested. Which has happened.

3. Sinéad O'Connor's 16 'Daze' Of Marriage
(Friends (O)/Sinéad O\'Connor)

sinead-o-connor28 Dec 2011 - It was a wild car ride around town in search of marijuana, that caused Sinéad O'Conners fourth marriage go up in smoke. The singer called it quits after just 16 days of marriage. O' Connor publishes a long explanation on her website explaining why the marriage is over. She says the marriage was on the rocks three hours after the ceremony due to negative reactions of the groom's friends and the wild ride O'Connor took him on.

"The marriage was kyboshed by the behavior of certain people in my husband’s life," she wrote on her blog Monday. "And also by a bit of a wild ride I took us on looking for a bit of a smoke of weed for me wedding night, as I don’t drink. She shared that her husband was negatively impacted by that incident. "My husband was enormously wounded and very badly effected by that experience and also by the attitude of those close to him toward our marriage", she writes.

Her soon-to-be ex, Barry Herridge, a Dublin-based addiction counselor for children, apparently had a major problem with her getting hot for pot shortly after the couple was driven down the aisle of a Las Vegas chapel in the back of a pink Cadillac.

The controversial singer wrote that she and Herridge had lived together as man and wife for just seven days before ending their relationship for good on Christmas Eve. O'Connor met Herridge after posting a plea for sex on twitter and it was just three months after that the couple decided to tie the knot. She admits that they rushed into the marriage too soon.

(Friends (O)/Igor Olshansky)

5 Dec 2011 - Former Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Igor Olshansky has been arrested on a marijuana possession charge at his Fort Lauderdale condo on Thursday afternoon. The Broward Sheriff's Office, participating in a multi-agency drug operation, says the 29-year-old Olshansky was charged after he was seen rolling a marijuana cigarette on his kitchen table.

But at some point, detectives also saw Olshansky with marijuana and arrested him, too, Moschella said.

A Ukraine native, Olshansky was released this week by the Dolphins. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman has also played for the Dallas Cowboys and San Diego Chargers over eight NFL seasons.

It wasn't clear if Olshansky had hired a lawyer.

Griffin O'Neil on Famous Friends Of Cannabis23 Nov 2011 - Actor Ryan O'Neal's oldest son, Griffin O'Neal, pleaded guilty Tuesday in San Diego County Superior Court to felony drug and weapons charges stemming from a head-on collision in the North County. O'Neal was on drugs when his car veered into oncoming traffic on San Pasqual Valley Road and collided head-on with a van on August 2. Xanax, cocaine, marijuana and amphetamines were found to be in his system at the time of his crash, prosecutors said. Responding officers found a loaded gun, a shotgun, ammunition and rock cocaine inside O’Neal’s car.

O'Neal has a degenerative bone disease and uses a cane when he walks and sometimes uses a wheelchair, according to his attorney. She also said some of the medicine found in her client's system at the time of the crash are taken as treatment for his disease.
The crash involving Griffin O'Neal happened about five hours after Redmond O'Neal was arrested in Santa Monica with heroin in his car.

Griffin O'Neal's mother is the late actress Joanna Cook Moore. His sister is Tatum O'Neal.
Sentencing was set for Jan. 12. O'Neal could face a maximum four years in prison.
