According to the book 'Cannabis' by Mathias Broeckers (publ. 2002), history's most renowned composer, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ate cannabis laced bon-bons in his younger years with his girlfriends .
In Mozart day, in Germany and Austria, Marihuana plants grew everywere and were known as "Poor Folk's Herb" (Arme Leute Kraut).
Hashish oil was commonly available in Europe's pharmacies of the time.
Mozart had a long medical history, full of diseases and illnesses. As a child, his life was plagued with Rheumatic fever, rashes, tonsillitis, streptococcal infection, pains, colds, polyarthritis, smallpox, and numerous other sicknesses. He also had frequent headaches.
This may be plausible reason for Mozart to have been at least familliar with cannabis and its medicinal purposes.
