Alanis Morissette Gives Up Weed For Pregnancy13 Aug 2010 - Rock star Alanis Moressette will give up her marijuana habit while she is expecting for her first child.

She said "I don't have a stance on it. I enjoy it...not while I'm pregnant, obviously."

The singer earlier revealed her cannabis use: "I'm all about moderation – as best I can be. As an artist, there's a sweet jump-starting quality to it for me," she said. "I've often felt telepathic and receptive to inexplicable messages my whole life. I can stave those off when I'm not high.

The 35-year-old Canadian singer/ songwriter, who is currently making guest appearances in the comedy about a marijuana dealer, says: "Weeds was my solace and respite in the back of the bus on tour. "I was in the middle of detoxing at the time, and it was my replacement addiction for food. Weeds helps me. The irony is hilarious."
