14 April 2012 - Kevin Macdonald has called Bob Marley "the most influential musician of the 20th century by far". The Life in a Day director's latest project is an documentary of the Jamaican reggae singer called Marley.
Kevin Macdonald, who directed films such as One Day in September, State of Play and The Last King of Scotland, traces Marley’s rise from humble beginnings to global stardom and a tragically early death at 36.
Along the way, he uncovers a man of many contradictions. He was a laid-back, spiritual character – yet he had the ambition to adapt his music to ensure worldwide popularity. A keep fit fanatic, who loved to play football with his band, he also smoked enormous amounts of cannabis as part of his Rastafarian beliefs.
MacDonald premiered last month at the documentary at SXSW film festival in Austin (Texas) alongside Marley’s children Karen and Ziggy.
19 Aug 2011 - This year's 18th Sunsplash pays homage to the legendary reggae musician, Bob Marley on the 30th anniversary of his death with concerts by his wife Rita, backing singer in Bob Marley & The Wailers, and the most famous of his children including Ziggy and Stephen.
Stephen Marley will open the festival on the main stage, where Ska pioneers Toots and the Maytals and Jamaican dancehall star Mr. Vegas are also expected to play on the first night.
Over 300 bands and DJs playing reggae genres from roots to rocksteady and ragga to dub will be performing on six stages during a festival which mixes reggae music with social forums as well as African and Caribbean arts and culture.

28 Oct 2010 - Bob Marley's youngest daughter has been sentenced to probation for growing marijuana at her Pennsylvania home after being arrested in 2008. Makeda Jahnesta Marley was given the choice between a short term in prison or seven years probation requiring random drug tests and no contact from drug users. If she violates this terms she could be sent to jail.
