16 July 2012 - Adam Levine has been quoted in an interview with Q Magazine stating that his experiments with drugs were a "valuable experience". He told Q: "I smoked a lot of pot when I was younger. There is a place in this world for a little weed every once in a while." When asked how it influenced his work, he said,"I've written songs after smoking a joint and it was good. More often than not its absolute garbage." The Maroon 5 singer says his experiences taking magic mushrooms - a psychedelic drug - and smoking marijuana helped him to ''understand'' himself better.
He said: ''I definitely, firmly believe that the experience I had on mushrooms made me understand certain things about myself that I probably wouldn't have otherwise.''What I took away from that experience was valuable and beneficial to me. It really forced me to look at myself. ''It's so corny to say but it's true; you just get in touch with the wonderment you have as a kid that you tend to lose. Obviously if you abuse a drug like that you'll never come back and end up as a f***ing psychotic maniac.
''It's hard for me, as someone who does speak publicly about things, I'm not saying, you should do drugs. I hope that's
clear.''
