13 Feb 2009 - President Obama’s political roll model, Abraham Lincoln smoked weed too. Historical documentation leaves little doubt that the 16th president of the United States was a proud pot head who praised smoking cannabis to unwind and have fun. The legendary US leader, who was honored by Obama during his presidential inauguration, loved to play harmonica. Hohner Harmonica Company in Germany learned of this, and had sent a couple of them to Lincoln as gifts. In the thank-you note from 1855 to the harmonica builder the US president not only expresses his fondness of the instruments, but surprisingly also of (what we now know as) marijuana. Lincoln writes: "Two of my favorite things are sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe of sweet hemp, and playing my Hohner harmonica."
