Jack Herer Dies At 7015 April 2010 - Jack Herer, author of the books like Grass and The Emperor Wears No Clothes passed away in Eugene, Oregon. He was 70 years of age. Jack Herer was an iconic advocate of cannabis legalization and was known with the international cannabis community as the Emperor of Hemp.

The leader in the modern marijuana legalization movement, was discharged from a Portland hospital in October last year. Herer was brought to Legacy Emanuel Medical Centre after suffering a heart attack following an emotional speech at the 2009 Hempstalk festival. In the speech Herer called for opposition to marijuana taxation plans.

2. Jack Herer's Wife Is His Official Guardian

jack & jeannie herer8 Feb 2010 - After many troubling months following Jack Herer's devastating heart attack last September, his wife Jeannie Herer is now his official guardian. The decision was made on Feb. 3. in Lane County Court in Oregon. 

Power of attorney given to Joy Graves and Chuck Jacobs on Sept. 12, the day Herer suffered the heart attack at Hempstalk in Portland, was revoked. Graves didn't show up in court.
 
A month ago, Graves withdrew $800 from Herer's Wells Fargo bank account.

3. The Emperor Of Hemp Showing Signs Of Improvement After Heart Attack

Jack Herer12 Oct 2009 - News website Oregon Live (www.oregonlive.com) reports: Jack Herer, a leader in the modern marijuana legalization movement, has been discharged from a Portland hospital a month after a heart attack, and his family has moved him to a Eugene nursing facility. 

Herer, 70, of Lower Lake, California, had just delivered what for him was a typical barn-burner of a speech promoting hemp at Portland's Hempstalk festival when he collapsed. He was airlifted to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and was in critical but stable condition for more than three weeks.

4. Jack Herer's Condition Critical But Stable

Jack Herer on Friends of Cannabis22 Sept 2009 - The condition of US cannabis activist Jack Herer, who collapsed after a speech he gave at a law reform rally last week, is said to be stable but still critical.

Herer was brought to Legacy Emanuel Medical Centre in Portland Oregon after suffering a heart attack following an emotional speech at the 2009 Hempstalk festival. In the speech Herer called for opposition to the marijuana taxation plans that are currently being brought forward.
 
The weed warrior was kept in a medically induced coma in the intensive care unit of the hospital. Family members told friends he was brought out of coma last Saturday. As of that day there was little change in Jack Herer's condition. He has not awakened, and is in stable but critical condition.

The author of "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" is still fighting for his life, but he's not fighting it alone. His friends, family and followers, numbering in the tens of thousands, are holding strong that “Jack will be back”.

5. Jack Herer Suffers Heart Attack

herer14 Sept 2009 - The most well-known and best loved cannabis and hemp activist Jack Herer has suffered a massive heart attack at Hempstalk event in Portland Oregon on Saturday September 12th.

After giving an empassioned and well received speech on the virtues ofhemp and cannabis, Jack was sitting down taking a breather when theheart attack struck.

Jack was transported to hospital and was forced to undergo emergency Angioplasty surgery to clear arterial blockages. His condition was said to be critical.
