22 Dec 2011 - It's Christmas time again and people are slowly returning home to enjoy the company of their families. Unfortunately, they'll still be there when that wears off. But comedy-folk duo Garfunkel & Oates have a remedy that could help make the visit slightly more tolerable: Cannabis.
In their new bright, poppy balled Riki "Garfunkel" Lindhome and Kate "Oates" Micucci explore the highs and lows of getting high and low while at home for the holidays in "Scary Fucked Up Christmas". Sample lyrics: "If you can't handle family shit / Take a bong and take a hit / Christmas is much better when you're high." As a bonus, we get to see Doug Benson as a super high Santa Claus. Which only makes sense: Santa stays up late, laughs at everything and gorges himself on cookies. If that doesn't spell stoner, what does?
Garfunkel and Oates are from Los Angeles, California, consisting of actress-songwriters Kate Micucci (Oates) and Riki Lindhome (Garfunkel). The two met at the Upright Citizens Brigade theatre in Los Angeles, where they were introduced to one another by comic Doug Benson. The duet was formed when they started working together to turn a short film made by Lindhome, entitled "Imaginary Larry", into a musical.
It's not the first time that weed has been the subject of their song. In Weed Card they sing about the perils of obtaining medical marijuana in California.
