5 Apr 2011 - Critics skewered James Franco for a poor job co-hosting the Oscars with some saying he looked stoned onstage, but the actor said it was likely low energy, not dope, that was to blame.
The mariuana movie "Pineapple Express" star, who hosted the world's top film awards in February alongside actress Anne Hathaway, told David Letterman on his talk show that he had thought about his poor reviews and speculation he was under the influence of marijuana and he thought he knew why.
"I love her, but Anne Hathaway is so energetic. I think the Tasmanian Devil would look stoned standing next to Anne Hathaway...She has a lot of energy," Franco said on the "Late Show with David Letterman."
15 September 2010 - In a recent interview, Actor James Franco said that everyone thinks that he is a “stoner’ and “gay’ because he has played so many “gay’ roles onscreen. Franco told the reporters that a general idea has developed that he is gay because people see him perform these roles with such authenticity. Franco said that he is definitely not gay and enjoys being in heterosexual relationships just like any other hot-blooded male of his age. More interestingly Franco, who once told AOL "I don’t consider weed to be any worse than having a beer", and also told High Times Magazine about his first time getting high, also claims in this interview that he is not a “stoner’ as he is particularly averse to the idea of smoking pot.

1 June 2008 - Like the stoners they play in the upcoming "Pineapple Express," Seth Rogen and James Franco stumbled unkowingly into trouble Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards.
And of course, the weed was someone else's.
Early on in the show, Rogen and Franco took the podium to present the award for best summer movie so far, joking that MTV chose them because only "two potheads like us" would be willing to announce such a strange category. Then they pulled out a bag of "fake weed" and a "huge fatty joint" _ and proceeded to light it.
