10 April 2012 - Lily Cole, the British model and actress with the gorgeous red curls, is announced as the new ambassador of The Body Shop. The porcelain doll-like beauty worked together with almost all the big fashion houses, and participated in so many campaign that it would be too long to list all. She also made her first very successful appearances on the big screen in movies such as The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.
Beside of her very busy modeling and acting life, the supermodel is also a devoted environmental and social justice activist. Therefore she was very touched when Body Shop asked her to be a face of Beauty With Heart “beauty movement” as well as the Lily Cole Cruelty Free makeup range, to be launched in June. She declared: "This runs much deeper than just being the face of a campaign, it’s really important, so it’s a really exciting project to be part of!"
Cole’s top pick, the Hemp Intensive Hand Butter, features the Ghanian butters, plus CFT hemp sourced from England, Brazil nut oil from Peru and beeswax and honey from Ethiopia.
Each product is produced through locally-run co-ops and purchased at a fair living wage rate that goes directly to the small farmers and funds local water, education and health projects. Reporter Leanne Delap from the Star, who interviewed Cole, writes on her blog: "Lily Cole offers me her long, delicate ivory hand and the only thing I can say is “But it is so soft!”
