1. Flesh-n-Bone Creates New Medical Marijuana Strain
(Friends (F)/Flesh-N-Bone)

Flesh-n-Bone23 March 2013 - Bone Thugs-N-Harmony member Stanley "Flesh-N-Bone" Howse works together with a medical marijuana facility in Otisville, Michigan, to cultivate and distribute a new strain for patients in the area.

The partnering between Flesh-N-Bone and Anthony Butler owner of the Green Oasis dispensary arose after the owner of a company that specializes in marijuana-themed clothes (which Butler used to work for) put the two in contact following a discussion about who might like to get involved in the medical marijuana industry.

They worked very close together  to figure out what they wanted out their new variety. The strain called "Phifty Caliber Kush,", has a distinct floral taste and works as an effective pain reliever. "It's the best of the best," said Butler.

The grammy award winning rapper hopes the new strain can provide relief for qualified patients and he's proud to be a part of a "paradigm shift in the culture" of medicinal marijuana. The Green Oasis may also start selling merchandise and it's possible Howse might visit the dispensary in the future.

2. Larry Flynt: "Why isn't pot legal?"
(Friends (F)/Larry Flynt)

larry_flynt24 August 2012 - Familiar with being a speaker of controversial opinion, King of smut Larry Flynt stated on his blog earlier this month:

"With polls showing that 50% of Americans favor the legalization of marijuana, why aren’t steps being taken to make that a reality? Blame those that have the most to lose from legal weed: the pharmaceutical, alcohol and prison industries. Pharmaceutical companies don’t want people turning to pot for pain relief because it would mean fewer customers buying prescription medications. Brewers and distillers don’t want the competition either. With mounting scientific evidence that pot is safer than alcohol, legal marijuana would clearly put a major dent in the booze business’s profits. Private, for-profit prisons only make money if they’re filled to capacity, and that means locking up weed growers and pot smokers."

Vocal and influential, Flynt is certainly a valuable ally in the fight for legalization in the States.

3. Morgan Freeman On Marijuana Illegality: 'It's The Stupidest Law Possible
(Friends (F)/Morgan Freeman)

495px-morgan_freeman_cannes21 July 2012 - Morgan Freeman adds his name to the list of A-list actors who have spoken publicly about their support of marijuana legalization, a point he gave depth to in a recent interview with Newsweek:

"Marijuana! Heavens, oh yeah. It’s just the stupidest law possible, given history. You don’t stop people from doing what they want to do, so forget about making it unlawful. You’re just making criminals out of people who aren’t engaged in criminal activity. And we’re spending zillions of dollars trying to fight a war we can’t win! We could make zillions, just legalize it and tax it like we do liquor. It’s supid."

With more and more influential Hollywood stars getting out of the cannabis closet, and hit TV shows such as "Weeds" that centre on every one's favourite herb, signs are growing of a normalization of smoking marijuana. The friends of cannabis are growing in numbers, as well as in pride.

Snoop, who was arrested for marijuana possession in Norway last month and previously teamed up with country legend Willie Nelson to record a musical tribute to the drug, is
well-known for his passion for cannabis. But recounting their meeting, Foster said: "It's funny, the one time I got star-struck was when I met Snoop Dogg. I gave him a hug and said, 'I love you, man.' It was cool cos I'd just stopped smoking weed three days before.

"I told Snoop, 'I quit smoking but I'd have one with now if I had the chance,' he added, before revealing:
"He said 'Y'know what, brother: sometimes you gotta slow down and focus on your shit. From the godfather of marijuana smoking! That was good enough for me."
