14 June 2011 - Three Korean stars were convicted by courts in South Korea of marijuana charges, gambling and fraud. Korean-American rapper Crown J (real name Kei Hoon Kim) was sentenced by the Seoul Central District Court to eight months in prison and two years probation. He was also fined and ordered to do 80 hours of community service.
Last December, the rapper was charged for using marijuana while he was in the United States. The police said Crown J smoked marijuana in his home in Atlanta, Georgia between May 2009 to October 2010.
Crown J was born in South Korea and had been living mostly in the US. He became famous when he was cast in the Korean reality TV show “We Got Married” in 2008. He has three albums: “One & Only,” “Miss Me” and “Fly Boy” in addition to his singles.
11 June 2011 - Actress Julie Christie and several high profile figures have signed an open letter urging Prime Minister David Cameron to consider decriminalising drugs. The group of celebrities was branded ‘naive in the extreme’ by Cameron. Christie, together with fellow actresses Dame Judi Dench and Kathy Burke, film director Mike Leigh, singer Sting and Sir Richard Branson criticised drug policy in a letter to the Prime Minister. 7 June 2011 - The lonely stoner may have quit smoking herb, but Kid Cudi's latest video, "Marijuana," will always serve as a reminder of his high times. The clip, which was shot and directed by Cudder's actor pal Shia LaBeouf, was filmed in Amsterdam back in 2010 when Cudi served as a judge for the Cannabis Cup.
12 May 2011 - Former wide-receiver in the National Football League (NFL) Donald “Reche” Caldwell was pulled over, arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license and possession of marijuana in Tampa, Florida.
Caldwell was caught with a small plastic bag containing less than 20 grams of cannabis and was later released on $750 bail.
The wide out most recently played for the Washington Redskins in 2007-08 where he caught 15 passes in eight games for 141 yards. The year prior he had 61 receptions for the New England Patriots and gained 760 yards. He also spent four seasons with the San Diego Chargers, who initially drafted him with the 16th pick in the second round in the 2002 NFL Draft.
